R17 is now licensed under the Apache License v2.0 and is hosted on github.
The code base still contains some idiosyncratic workarounds to avoid GPL licensing issues. For example 64-bit integer division on 32-bit platforms is outsourced to a BSD-licensed library and r17 contains its own tiny subset of the C++ STL. These workarounds are no longer necessary so I plan to remove them over the next several days. I also want to make the build system more distro-friendly.
